What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used to treat muscle pain and dysfunction by inserting thin, solid needles into specific trigger points or tight bands of muscle. Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and focuses on the flow of energy through meridians, dry needling is based on Western medicine principles and aims to address muscular issues directly.

The needles used in dry needling are typically much finer than those used in injections, and they are often referred to as "dry" because they don't involve the injection of any substances like medications or fluids.

The primary goal of dry needling is to decrease muscle tension, improve blood flow, and promote healing by stimulating localized muscle fibers and trigger points.

Dry needling is an excellent tool, however best results have been shown when used in conjunction with a comprehensive rehab program.

What is Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy technique used to treat musculoskeletal conditions by employing specialized tools to apply controlled pressure and movement to the body's soft tissues, including muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. The primary goal of IASTM is to improve tissue quality, reduce pain, enhance range of motion, and promote healing by addressing issues such as scar tissue, adhesions, and muscle imbalances.

As with dry needling, IASTM is an excellent tool, however best results have been shown when used in conjunction with a comprehensive rehab program.
